Ades's the Tempest is playing at the Met right now. Probably one of the better things I've seen there, although Shostakovich's 'the Nose' will always take top for me (Kentridge, Gergiev). The music is really beautiful for this though, especially this last scene. The production at the Met, done by Robert LePage (Wagner's Ring Cycle) played out as quite an Italian opera, so it was really odd to have Ades's quite complex music layering over it. It worked wonderfully though! Watch this last scene, it's fantastically ethereal.
